WORKING (2022) is a short film by artist and filmmaker Pau S. Pescador that explores the stories of trans individuals employed as government employees at a time when legal protections have become contested ground. 

Pescador addresses these conditions in a video comprising interviews with US government trans employees and cultural historians to understand the challenges that this bureaucratic environment presents for trans individuals. Despite the legal protections for gender expression, what are the experience of trans individuals as they navigate the complexity and conservative nature of government bureaucracy?

Following the screening, there will be a performance by the artist herself.

To access Whammy! use our cross-street Rampart: From the 101 heading South, exit Benton, turn left, right on Marathon, left on Rampart. Whammy! will be on the right. Parking in the lot is drop-off only; no parking onsite.

Rampart has a steep hill that must be used when street parking near the intersection of Sunset & Rampart. Restroom is not wheelchair accessible.

Doors open at 7:30. Screening begins at 8:00 PM.

About the Programmer

Pau S. Pescador (she/they) is a contemporary trans fem nonbinary artist who works in film, photography, and performance that lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
