“Fucking Trans Women, An Oral History” is a reading and conversation of and around Mira Bellwether’s landmark zine, “Fucking Trans Women #0.” Bellwether’s 2010 zine is a critical document of both the practicalities of sex for transgender women and the politics of transfeminine sexuality. Mira Bellwether passed in 2022, and a decade later, this work and the topic of transgender sexuality in general demands consideration in a critical time.
This conversation will feature: educator and writer Badly Licked Bear; performance artist Sheree Rose; artist, writer, and cultural organizer Irina Contreras; BDSM educator midnight mayhem; performance and visual artist Page Person; and author and sex worker Tiana Marie.
This program will take place at Doheny Memorial Library at the University of Southern California, Friends Lecture Hall, 2nd floor, Room 240. Must show government issued ID to enter Library.
This program may not be suitable for all ages.

Tiana Marie (they/them) is a Seattle-based writer, performance artist, and BDSM model who is known for their “menstrual memoir,” Let the Crimson Flow and their series of zines that use traditional, analog layout and design methods to address sexuality, particularly sexuality in concert with nature. Tiana Marie’s inspiration comes from nature. There is so much enchantment and power that lives in the deep tides of a swirling ocean to the lush moss blanketing an emerald forest. The resiliency of nature gives them the strength to keep growing and healing and dreaming. Visit https://tiana-marie.com/.
Irina Contreras (they/them) is an LA based interdisciplinary artist, writer and cultural organizer. Within their creative practice, Irina weaves speculative fiction, queer histories, dreams and camp to more thoroughly examine the nuances of conflict and surveillance culture. Irina’s performances and videos have been featured throughout the US, Mexico, the Caribbean and more. Irina is the founder of the Miracle Bookmobile project and a current systems care designer/member of NAVEL in Downtown LA.
Page Person (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work incorporates drawing, painting, sculpture, storytelling, music and performance. Their ongoing project is based on the deceptively simple statement I AM A PERSON; mining lived experience as a trans person in the downtown Los Angeles drag scene as well as the contemporary art market. Their goal is to cohabitate seemingly oppositional genres and spaces to create a new language of freedom and liberation. Taking their name from the now defunct queer party PERSON created by Bashir Naim, Page Person advocates not just for transgender rights but for all persons to exist as whole and equal. Visit https://www.pageperson.net/.
Sheree Rose (she/her) is an American photographer and performance artist. She is best known for her collaborative work with performance artist Bob Flanagan, which captured the intersection of sexuality and illness. Her photography documents a wide range of Los Angeles subcultures, especially in relation to BDSM and body modification. Rose’s work has been exhibited globally, and her and Bob Flanagan’s collected archives are maintained at the ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives.
midnight mayhem (they/them) is a Denver-based, transgender, nonbinary educator who teaches at sexuality and BDSM conferences throughout the United States. They enjoy exploring the interplay between practicing physical and emotional sadomasochism, becoming emotionally healthy, and healing their nervous system. When not working as an educator, they enjoy being of service to transgender youth as camp counselor; building community through play parties; and tending to their Earth and Ancestral based spiritual communities.
This program is organized by Badly Licked Bear as part of the 2023 Circa: Queer Histories Festival, presented by One Institute.
